When I log into my PC, the entire start menu is missing
and I only have the desktop icons. Any advice on how to
restore the start menu?

make sure you havnt set your taskbar to auto hide?
do you have the blue bar at the bottom of your screen showing at all times?
if you dont, put mouse on bottom of screen, and when the bar appears, right click anywhere on a blank bit of the bar, click on properties and click the box that says lock the task bar.
also, in the window, you will see it also says start menu tab, maybe your answer is in there?...click either start menu or the classic menu box and apply and ok it?

Can someone pls tell me why I can't get a text box to write my question. When I click 'New' I get nothing. I have just clicked 'Reply' and I am brought to this box.
My question: Can someone please tell me what I need to do to make my desktop icons auto-hide. The options I have when I right click the desktop do not show an auto hide option like the taskbar. I know it can be done because someone did it for me a while ago. Unfortunately, my contact seems to have disappeared.
