Search option missing from Start Menu

The search option has disappeared from my start menu, i went into the the
start menu properties and it is also missing from the customise list. I also
cannot search from windows explorer

Hi Laura,

Click Start, Run and type REGEDIT.EXE
Navigate to the following branch:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

Backup the branch to a REG file (using the Export option in the File menu)

Delete the value named "NoFind" in the right pane.

Close REGEDIT.EXE
