start menu, task ar, desktop icon mising after system restore

Hi
I did system restore on my windows xp,
after this system restore my desktop icons r missing, my start menu is
missing and taskbar is also missing.
After logging in my user account , I press alt+ctrl+del to access
taskmanger and from task manager im opening my internet connection,
mozzila firefox browyer and yahoo messengerets..
but im not able 2 open internet explorer, and i tried 2 open
controlpanal, i even tried 2 open syetm restore once again using
windows task manager, but it does not shwo up on desktop, though one
new process starts in taskmager but im not able 2 access that process.
kindly let me know where have i gone wrong and what is 2 b done now to
bring all those missing desktop icons, and start menu and taskbar back
on desktop.

And you did a system restore... why?

There is not a whole lot broken, just process explorer.exe

with ur valuable input of running explorer .exe... teh mozzila browser
is able 2 stay on desktop even whe it is being minimized, but taskbar
has not yet coem, start menu is still msising and desktop icons r
nowhere b seen.
for just a fraction of a second teh startmenu appear on screen, taskbar
also coems with it but then it disappears and does not return at all.
pls suggest wat is 2 b done now. there was basically no such need of
doing system restore 4 me, teh com was running very slow and i donot
know wat made me go for the opetion of system restore. an dnow im
sufering.

It is possible you may be able to recover explorer.exe either by
running:

sfc /scannow

or by extracting it from cabinet files. This is a little tricky as it
depends on OS version, the location of your cabinet files, and an
exact command line.
This may even fix you keyboard problem.

I forgot to notice, but what happens in Safe Mode?
From the sounds of things, explorer.exe is starting, but is
immediately terminated.

Thank u very much, all those who sent in their valuable suggestions,
i treid all those wat had been suggested by my friends here in this
foroum, but in the end, i had 2 reinstall windows.

ye the result was same in safe mode aswell, i even run one batchfile ,
but all nothing relaly made any difference, but now everything is under
control.
