missing DLL's...cd rom and zip wont work..please help

we uninstalled norton, installed mcafee, uninstalled that and reinstalled norton...dont know if this caused this problem..
cd rom doesnt work...used norton dr. to find problem...says it fixed it then it shows same problem
we reinstalled xp and first time attempting stopped with 20 minutes to go with DLL error...tried again and it loaded

you might consider having someone who really knows what they are doing
straighten out that box....anything you do is goin' mess it up even
more...OK..
