MIDI - No sound

Mid & Midi files are recognized by WMP and MIDI file
types may are registered by WindowsXP. WMP presents
itself as if playing my Mid/Midi files, just nothing
comes out my speakers. All other types of files play
OK. And, Mid/Midi files play Ok using iTunes. This
really bugs me because it did work up until about 7 to 10
days ago.

BTW, installed SP2 a couple of days ago and no change.

Sounds and Audio Devices
Audio Tab
Midi Music Playback
Select "Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth"
Apply

I have the same problem - but the wavetable synth thingy did not work.
I have adobe audition and that does not produce sound whe playing the midi
files - same prob with cakewalk music creator.


Any ideas???
