I have lost my word processor, everything else in my task launcher works but
word. I get this message "This application has failed because LTKRN13N.dll
was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix problem. I have a BIG
problem, I don't have a disk that I can reinstall. This program was already
on the computer when I bought it and I have used it almost daily since. It
was there 3 days ago and today (9-15-07) when I try to go into is , it is not
there. i also get a message that is has been moved, removed or deleted, and
if it has I dont know how I did it. I have tried to restore and just about
everything you can think of to find it and it is not there. I do not know
where to go or what to do. I need this program for my business and I cant
even get into existing files or documents that are related to this program
PLEASE HELP ME. Thank you very much.

According to this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892614 you
unfortunately need to re-install Works. Perhaps you could look into
downloading the Word 2003 Viewer from microsoft so you could at least
read the documents you currently have. It can be downloaded from here

A few things to try:

- Click Start, Run, type SFC /SCANNOW, click OK. If any files are
damaged or missing, they'll be replaced. You may need to reboot
afterwards so damaged files will be replaced. Whether that's considered
a system file, I don't know.

- Try the free http://openoffice.org

couldn't find SFC/SCANNOW.

Thank you, went to the support place, did what it said and nothing happened.
Went and downloaded that word 2003 and when i went to get into my documents I
get the same message, so that didn't work either.. How can one aspect of a
program just disappear???

Thank you. I did it but still no luck. It looks like I am going to have to
totally wipe the computer out and start over for I don't have a disk that I
can re-install just this program. better get to coping files. Thanks again.

You need a "space" between the SFC and the /SCANNOW
Don't give up the ship yet!

What is the name of your computer manufacturer? Vendors are supposed to
supply some means of restoring your computer to its original
configuration or re-installing individual programs that came with the
machine. Sometimes this is a CD, sometimes it's a hidden partition on
your hard disk. Check your documentation, if any, or call the vendor.

Did you lose both Word and Works? They are separate programs. You can
find earlier versions of Works for sale on the Internet at low prices.

The OpenOffice.org suggestion is a free suite, but a large download. It
will process Word files but I'm not sure whether it handles Works documents.

Wiping the computer will not get your Word Program back. Look in Ebay for a used copy of MS Works
so that you have a copy to reinstall the program. Then it should work just fine and your data is
still there.

Also, look in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works folder for a copy of the LTKRN13N.dll file. If
you find it there, make a copy of it into the C:\Windows\system32 folder which is where Windows was
looking for it.

If you don't find a copy of that file on your hard drive, download a copy from;
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?ltkrn13n
Make a copy of the file in both the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works folder and the
C:\windows\system32 folder
