Microsoft Optical USB Mouse Problem

I have a Microsoft optical USB mouse problem at Startup.
My HP Pavilion xt938 stops its boot process at the blue
HP screen if I leave my USB mouse connected to my
machine. If I take the mouse out then I'm able to plug
it in once I get into windows and everything is fine
after that. I have uninstalled and tried looking for an
update to the driver and still no solution to my problem.
If anyone can assist me, I would be grateful.
