Microphone

I cant get my microphone to work at all. I dont get
the 'configure microphone' option in the speech
properties. I know my microphone is good, and it used to
work. I recently reloaded windows.

Try double clicking the speaker down in the task bar,
then chose Options then properties, make sure the
microphone has a check mark and also make sure it isn't
muted.

If only it were that easy. I've done that. I've gone
into Speech and configure microphone option is not there.
I've tried putting my microphone into both the microphone
slot and the line in slot. I've tried checking to make
sure it is selected and not muted. I cannot get into the
advanced options for my microphone in the sounds and audio
device properties. (It's greyed out.
