microphone problems

my computer is unable to use my microphone correctly. i
have tried using the microphone in other computers and it
works fine but when i plug it into mine it registers
sound but i continuously get a long beeping noise, it
sounds like 2 microphones being placed too close
together... im not sure what the problem is but it seems
to happen to all microphones that i connect to my
computer. anyone know anything about this problem?

I do not have multiple sound cards. thoe sound card is
integrated into the motherboard which is built by ASUS
model A7V8X.

If it's a squeal, it might be feedback (into the speaker). Either turn
down the speakers or MUTE the mic (which may still allow it to record).
