Microphone setup problem

The computer installed winxp sp2 home,

when plug in microphone find winxp does not detect the microphone, and can
not proceed any futher setup steps. microphone and computer are check work
OK.

what is the problem and how to solve it ?

What program are you trying to set up? Windows does not install the Microphone as a device in the
device manager. In the sounds and audio properties from control panel, go to the audio tab and make
sure your sound card is listed as the default recoring device. Press the volume button and be sure
that Microphone is selected there. If there is no listing for the microphone select the options,
propeties from the menu and check to see if microphone is checked in the show following contols.

You need to ask an actual question and supply full information if you want some help. What exactly
are you trying to do, spefic program you are trying to set up? The more complete information you
give the better the answer will be.
