Micromv and MM2 CAPTURE problems

Hello there... I am somewhat frustrated in trying to get my video off the camera and on to the harddrive

My equipment
Camera- Sony Network HandyCam IP -- MicroMV bought this year. (hooked up by Firewire
Computer IBM Laptop with PCI expansion card with USB 2.0 and Firewire Pent.4 with 500 Mb ra
Iomega HDD 120 Mb external (hooked up by USB 2.0

Two Problems
#
I downloaded the MM2 and ran the installation but nothing seems to have changed with the original version of MM on my computer. Same version number as before (2.0.3312)!

#2
When I click on "capture from video device" I get a message saying: "A video capture device was not detected." Verify that a device is turned on and connected properly, and then try again
But... the camera is on and in video mode. The firewire is connected with no problem. The computer will give the tone indicating that it can tell when the camera is turned on/off or plugged/unplugged. I have even rebooted with the camera sitting there turned on and hooked up

How can I make MM2 install
How can I make MM1 OR MM2 "see" my digital video camera? Does the fact that it is a MICROMV have anything to do with it? -- this is just a really tiny digital video tape (as opposed to the more standard DV)

Any help would REALLY be appreciated

Hi Cindy,

You're running the latest version of MM2.

And yes, the nature of your MicroMV is that it records on smaller tapes by
using compressed MPEG2 files, not the Digital Video files that is used on
mini-DV and digital8 camcorders.

MM2 doesn't typically work with MPEG2 files and you'll need to use the
software provided by Sony to capture it and convert it to something that MM2
can use.... see the Digital Camcorders > Sony page of my website, and the
comments by others about their DCR-IP camcorders.
