Video capture device not detected error HELP!!!!

The help center in MM2 does not provide a great deal of help!
I have a Sony MicroMV DCR-IP5 NTSC format camera, attached w/i-link to a Firewire card, with the correct (Microsoft) drivers. I know I can capture video, as I can do it with my MovieShaker software. I want to give MM2 a try. When attempting to capture video, I receive the message box:
"A video capture device was not detected. Verifyt that a device is turned on and connected properly..." So what's up? Is it due to the Sony device, or is it a systemic problem? I have a PCI Firewire card (the on-board device is dsiabled through the CMOS). Is there a newer MS firewire driver other than the one from 2001?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

MM2 will not work with Micro mv I'm afraid. Some people have had luck with
Ulead and pinnacle studio, but if MovieShaker works, you may as well stick
with it. Sorry!!

Alan,

See the comments on the Digital Camcorders > Sony page of my website. They
include some about the MicroMV camcorders.
