capture device error

I have a sony DCR SR100 HDD video camera. Connection from camera to computer
is via USB, the video camera does not have a firewire connection. First error
I receive is that no video capture device is detected.

To get past this error I tried to use the software that came with the camera
to download the video. When I tried to import the video to movie maker I
received the second error message " Could not import. An interface has too
many methods to fire events from".
How can I make this work???????

You can't. MM does not work with Mpeg files. You need to use the software
which came with the cam, convert the mpeg files to wmv, apps here

or invest in a programme that will edit mpegs, like adobe premiere elements,
ulead and pinnacle also do some.
