importing Video from Sony DCR-SR100 30 gig hard drive

I want to know if there is something special I have to download for Movie
Maker to reconize the files that come off this camera DCR-SR100 Sony Hard
Drive camera. Also if there is a way for the files from HDR-SR1 Hi def camera
files to go directly into movie maker?
Any information is helpful.

Hi.

I am having the exact same problem. It seems that the sony SR1 format is
only recognizable by the sony video player and other than expensive
professional video editing software ie vegas etc there is no way to edit this
footage. Sony apparantely provide some basic stuff but it rubbish.

I love Movie Maker and find it very intuitive, is there a revision coming up
for it to recognize Hi Def? Otherwise I will have to record in a lower format
for now until things changes.
It seems we are waiting for the software to catch-up with the hardware.

Movie Maker usually doesn't work with the MPEG files recorded by such
camcorders, and the files would need conversion.

My website's Import Movie Source Files section has some info getting files
into Movie Maker...
