Messenger 5.0 Tries to Install on Adobe 6.01 start

E

Eric

For some reason now, everytime I open Adobe Reader or any
document
associated with it, the Windows Messenger 5.0
installation pops up and
tries to install, but it fails at the end because of an
error, then the
cycle repeats. The only way to get out of this is
to end task of the installer in Task Manager.

Any ideas...no info on Microsoft's Support site.

Thanks

Greetings Eric,

In order to fix this, a simple
reinstallation of Windows Messenger 5.0 usually can correct the problem. To do so, first
make sure that Windows Messenger is shut down (right-click its icon in the notification
area/system tray, and choose Exit), then click Start, then Run, and type in the following:
msiexec /x {4A432C6C-1E20-4266-95D1-5782349C6C62}
then click OK, and choose Yes to uninstall the product.

You can then reinstall Windows Messenger from here:
