messages marked as read

For some reason Outlook 2007 is marking all incoming messages as read. I have
tried turning off view pane but this does not affect the problem. I have
experimented with different settings in the Options/Other/Reading Pane
options but nothing seems to work. It is a real pain finding messages that I
know have arrived when they are marked as read. Soembody please help.

The usual cause is an add-in, like a PDA sync tool, that is processing your
messages.

I do have a Motorola Moto Q Smartphone with MS Active Sync but I am not
syncing the e-mail, just contacts and calendars. I had already uninstalled
Alltel's Officesync to make sure that was not the problem. Right now any
messages I recieve are marked read. How do I track down this issue further?
If it is infact Active Sync, how do I make the program co-exist with outlook?

I'd be surprized if it's ActiveSync. More likely is an anti-spam or -virus
scanner.

I am not sure what it is but I uninstalled Actice Sync abd it did not affect
the problem. I do know that I did not have this problem until I installed
Active Sync a month a go. It is probably linked somewhere with this software,
but I am just guessing. I am not using anti-soam and AVG has not changed,
prior to Active Sync of with it.

You got me thinking, so I checked the add-ons I had installed in Outlook and
found the problem. I have an add-on called AutoRead that marks all messages
in a folder as Read and overrides the message notification. Somehow it was
set for the inbox which marked all messages before the filters processed. I
have no idea how it got set but anyway - thanks for your help.

If you have AVG scanning mail, disable the mail scanner. Also check to see
if your firewall is examining incoming mail.

Check to see how you are your Internet connection is being made... For
example, is it through the internet or WAP or secured WAP. Also, what
are you using for an email platform? Is it Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo
ect... That will make a big difference. With Gmail and Yahoo you must
enable POP access. Let me know and I will send you the information to
make this right.

Thxs,

Mike
