Reading Pane issue

Hi,
Despite going Tools, Options, Other, Reading Pane & deselecting all 3
options, emails are still opening (in Inbox, or any folder which has the
reading pane on) when selected. Other users in the same workplace do not have
this issue. Could it just be one of those unexplained things, or is there a
reason? It's just a real pain having to then right click email and mark it as
unread. Ideas?

Any 3rd party applications installed that could be indexing or looking at
the recipients of the messages to see if they can be sent an instant
message?
