After checking pop3 server for messages, status window says it's downloading
new messages, and completes w/out problem. However no new messages are
displayed in Inbox, only the old existing remain. All messages get deleted
from server however.

The problem is happening using Outlook 2003. I am however, able to open the
same PST file from Outlook 2000 (different PC) and all messages are displayed
w/out problems, including new ones. It was working fine (I'm using the 2000
PST file version) until someone in the office (I've yet to find out who!!...)
attempted installation of PowerPoint 2000. I don't know how this would affect
it, but that is the only thing that has changed. I am now using a new user
profile, still new messages fail to be put in the inbox. I am going to
completely remove Office 2003 now, but thought I post this message in case
this fails. Thanks in advance.

HEC... check the following in Outlook 2003 (im allmost sure it has nothing to
do with installing PowerPoint):
Tools | E-Mail Accounts... | View or change existing e-mail accounts | now
select you E-Mail Account take a look at the box at the bottem of the
windows: Deliver new e-mail to the following location: if there the deliver
location is the right one.
