? Memory error during Installation of win xp pro

I have a ASUS k8v se deluxe motherboard with an athlon 64 3400+, radeon 9800
pro, maxtor 160gb sata HDD, and 512mb single dimm (infineon).

When i boot from the cdrom to install windows i get an error message almost
immediately

GPF 0dh

Sounds like a memory problem or summit like that. I have changed the speed
of my memory from ddr400 to ddr333 to know avail. Any known issues or
solutions to this problem.

Hey there ... I'm sorry I can't help but I had an ASUS board and found
nothing but problems with it .... They have to my opinion the Worst tech
support that I ever incounter with ... Though I can provide you with a

I've done a bit more analysing and it seems that the program "EMM386.exe" is
causing the crash. The computer can load and run pc-check... all the
hardware checks out. I'm beginning to think that the problem is the memory
settings in the bios. Maybe auto settings do not settle well with this
board?!?!?!

Anyone got any ideas..
