not able to load winxp pro on newly built machine

I just built a new computer with ASUS A7N8X-E deluxe motherboard - 1 GIG
Ultra DDR memory PC3200 400mhz - AMD XP3000 cpu and XFX GeForce 5500 video
card - Maxtor 160GB EIDE 7200/8MB/ATA-133 I'm trying to install OEM winXP
pro. At first I was getting blue screen errors I disabled SATA on mb and
disabled L1 cache and L2 cache. formatted in NTFS and now it is taking
forever to load windows it is only at 38% and it has been an hour any
suggestions? Help please...

Has it actually stopped installing with n minutes to go?

If so, have a look at one or more of these 4 files in the Window
folder to see what is causing the problem, setupact.log, setupapi.log
setuperr.log and pnplog.txt. You will probably have to hook up th
drive as a slave on a different machine to view them if it won't boot
