Installing WinXP Pro on RAID

I have a new Soyo KT400 Dragon Ultra (Via
KT400Plus/VT8235 Chipset) w/AMD 2000+ chip & using the
onboard Raid (0) striping for a faster Multimedia
computer (DVD Editing & Creation, Movie Editing &
Creation, etc.). I am setting up WinXP Pro on the RAID
side (2@ 40GB 7200RPM Maxtor HD's) with an additional
140GB 7200RPM Seagate HD for the edited & stored
content. I am using 3@ 512MB PC2700 RAM, Plextor PX-
708A/SW DVD burner, Creative PC-DVD player w/Creative
Audigy 1 Sound Blaster & NVidia GeForce Ti 200??

However, I seem to be unable to install WinXP Pro on the
Raid 0 drives for striping (rather than mirroring)??I
have the HPT370/372/372A ATA RAID controllers for Windows
2000/XP on a floppy disk already. The striped (2@ 40GB
7200RPM Maxtor HD's) Raid drives are showing as Raid 0, 1
BOOT & the other Hidden?? Is this correct, or do I
change it & how if so, step by step (PLEASE)?? I am
computer literate, being that I build & set-up computers
for friends & myself. Although, I am new to using a RAID
configuration & I guess I need some help the first time
is being a little difficult.

If you have ANY other helpful information as to making
this the fastest possible running system, I would
appreciate anything you may wish to offer as advice.
Anything to alter with WinXP Pro's running system,
turning off, altering, adding to get the fastest possible
speed I can out of this system.

Thank you so very much for the information in advance, I
appreciate all you kindness & help with this issue!!

My direct email is (e-mail address removed).....

Thank you,
Craig

If you're booting XP Setup from CD, Setup will need all of the disk drivers,
including your RAID card driver, really early in Setup. This might be a
stupid question, but when Setup asked you to press F6 to install a
third-party storage driver, did you?

Provided the driver disk has a TXTSETUP.OEM file on it, XP should be able to
recognize it this early in the Setup process. If it doesn't, try to get an
updated driver disk or disk image from the card's manufacturer.

Then...

1) Boot from the XP CD-ROM
2) press F6 as soon as you see "Press F6 to install..." (Be quick!)
3) Tell Setup to install a driver from another manufacturer
It should then prompt you for your driver disk.
4) Repeat 3 for any other non-included drivers
5) Resume Setup.

For your question, everything looks correct RAID 0 is stripping, one of the HD should be bootable with the other shown is hidden. XP should recognize the two 40G as one 80G HD

In device manager, under "Disk drives" you should see an "HPt37x RAID 0 Array SCSI Disk Device." Also, in device manager their should by a "SCSI and RAID controllers" device
