Media Center Receiver Service has encountered a problem

I just updated my HP a1467c running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002
Service Pack 2. I downloaded updates from Microsoft Update and now I keep
getting popups that state "Media Center Receiver Service has encountered a
problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Then I can
click on "Debug", "Send Error Report" or "Don't Send". Well I have clicked
on all three and the pop up keeps popping up, it will not stop. When I close
one another pops up in a few seconds to replace the previous one. I searched
the Microsoft data base and found no matches. I have tried to do a sytem
restore and it keeps saying that it can not restore, no changes made. Can
anyone tell me how to uninstall the updates that I downloaded this evening or
tell me what to do to get rid of these popups?

Regards,

Rod

You should be able to uninstall updates via Control Panel, Add/Remove
programs. You will need to know what the updates were to identify them.

As well, if you google "Media Center Receiver Service has encountered a
problem", you will find a number of links with suggestions. Many refer to
driver problems. If you can find any more detailed information on the
error, for example in the system logs, this will help you resolve this.
