ME Upgrade currupt file $Win_NT$ contains all zeroes

Jack

During the copy file phase of upgrading from ME to XP HE I
get a stop message in Windows Setup "C:\$Win_NT$.~LS\i386
\asms\1000\MSFT\Windows\GDIPLUS\GDIPLUS.Cat is corrupt; it
contains all zeroes". This is a retail purchased hologram
upgrade CD.

I have gone through all the hardware and software
compatibility checks that I can find. I have updated the
Bios on my Dell Dimension L800r and still cannot find a
problem.

Is this file corrupted on the XP upgrade CD or in my ME
OS? How can I fix it?

Previous post have mentioned that there are too many
items running. Do a clean boot in ME and stop as many
background tasks as you can . Then install XP.
