XP Upgrade Error

I'm trying to upgrade to XP from 98SE. Process halts with
error message "The file c:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\i386\asms\1000
\MSFT\WINDOWS\GDIPLUS\GDIPLUS.Cat is corrupt; it contains
all zeroes." Any way around this?

If you can still boot into 98, try uninstalling any Roxio products you have
installed and reboot.

The only Roxio product that I know I ever had was "Go
Back" which was uninstalled before attempting to upgrade.
I even reinstalled Go Back & uninstalled again to see if
that would help, but I get the same error. Any other
ideas?

Thanks for your help.

Try copying a flat of the XP CD to the local hard drive and using
winnt32.exe to run setup, that should resolve it.
