Error during Installation

I have just got a new hardisk for my notebooka nd on installing windows XP
Pro after the reboot I get this error

sys.dll Syntax error in manifest or policy file
"c:\$win_nt$.ls\i386\asms\1000\winpos\gdiplus\gdiplus.man" on line 4

I tried formatting and installing twice but still the same. I also borrowed
the CD from a freind of mine but still the same. Can anyone help?
