McAfee

So I thought as my new dell computer had come to the end of its 3 month free
trial with McAfee I would consider replacing it with AGV and Zone alarm.
(Might not be everybodies favourite but I have used them for years and never
had any real probs). So I downloaded the AVG and Zone Alarm ready to install
when I was off line. In the meantime I noticed the the spamkiller had ceased
to up date and this put my outlook express accounts in limbo. You would
have thought they would have reverted the setting back from the default
McAfee settings so it could still be used. Having sorted those out I went
off line and removed McAffee and its components in the Add/remove folder.
Then installed the new virus and firewall. I restarted between each
operation (just being cautious). I had a quick look in msconfig start up and
found an entry for MSKDECT (which is McAfee spamkiller update) still in
there so I unticked it. Next after a restart when connected to the internet
McAfee security centre want ed to connect to the web as I was informed by
zone alarm. I denied this but was wondering if I should let Mcfee inform its
makers I had removed it or was it going to bug me with more pleads to re
install. Anybody know ?

McAfee is a bitch sometimes. I have in the past, spent
considerable time going through the registry until every
reference to it was removed. Also in Windows folder is stuff
sometimes.

Perhaps if you waved a CROSS over your computer it might drive
out the evil spirits. Who knows?
