The design template that I want to
use is not available anywhere in the three sections in
this presentation. It is available, however, in another
presentation as "Used in this presentation." Is there a
way to get that design template over to the target
presentation and apply it there? Is there a way to
specify that this template is the "default" template
whenever I do a presentation? Thanks for all your help!

Then it is simple: Right click on the slide. Select "Slide Design". A task
pane will pop up on the right. Under the words "Apply a design template",
it has three sections: Used in this presentation, Recently Used, and
Available for Use. I am guessing that your newly created template will show
up in recently used, but it may be in available for use. Find and select the
picture for your presentation, click on the drop down arrow next to the
picture, and select apply to selected slides or apply to all slides
(whichever is appropriate).

Let us know how it goes!

Sonia-
This is the same message you sent yesterday. The
template that I want to use is in the place where PP
stores templates, but this template is not available
under "Apply a design template." It is not in Recently
used or in Available for use. How do I make it available
to apply to the presentation I have created? How do I
make it the default template? Thanx.

Are you sure that you saved it as a .POT file when you were in Slide Master
view? I may have omitted that in my previous reply. It should be showing
up if you put it in the correct place. Try it again is all I can suggest.

As an act of desperation I dragged the "Design Template"
that I want to use from C:\Docs and Sets\RW\App
Data\Microsoft\Templates to C:\Prog Files\Microsoft
Office\Templates\Presentation Desings but it still does
not appear as being available under "Apply a design
template. What should I do? How do you see the file
suffix (e. g. .pot)?

First, in Explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options > View and locate the
checkbox labeled "Hide extensions for known file types" and make sure that
it is UNchecked. Actually, my own personal templates are stored in
C:\Documents and Settings\Sonia\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates and
they show up in PowerPoint 2002 under "Available for Use".

Did you try storing your template in C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Templates\Presentation Designs? Try that. It should also work.
