Master footers not in background in PPT 2007

I can't figure out why the footers from my master show up as moveable items
on my new slides (slide numbers, etc). I want them to appear as background
items like they used to in 2003. Anyone know how to fix this?

PPT 2007 handles these items differently than previous versions. This is,
I'm sure, because MS received lots of requests to put master items (page
numbers, especially, I'd guess) on top of images that completely cover the
slide.

You can hide them in the Selection and Visibility pane on the Home tab. Then
turn them on again when you're ready to complete the file. If you get into
the habit of using File | Prepare | Inspect Document, it will notify you of
the hidden items as well, so it serves as a good reminder.
