I accidently clicked on something last night in a hurry to shut down m
computer and now I cannot restore my toolbar at the bottom. It ha
disappeared completely. I've tried rebooting several times an
everything seems to load correctly up to the point of my screen save
and then it stops. All I have showing is my screensaver. I've trie
left clicking on the mouse and right clicking on different areas of m
screen to no avail. How do I get my toolbar back

Screen saver or desktop background? Does it move? Then it's a screensaver.
If not then it's a background...

For the QuickLaunch toolbar:
Right click an empty spot on the bottom taskbar area, menu comes up, hover mouse over Toolbars. menu comes up, click on QuickLaunch

or if it's missing icons (shortcuts) on the desk top:
Right click on desktop, menu comes up, hover mouse over 'arrange icons by', second menu comes up, click on Show DeskTop Icons

hi, i would try right clicking on the start button for properties if that is
no help perhaps doing a system restore to a prevous time will undo the damage
/ i know ure frustation and would suggest writting down all u try till u get
the resolve to the solution / i often forget to do thiis and it causes me
more aggrivation / good luck / if i think of anything else i'll let u know

I am having the same problem, on mine I have no icons, no start menu or
toolbar and the only thing that is showing is the wallpaper for the
desktop and windows explorer opens automatically when I start the
computer. I have tried right clicking on the desktop and nothing
happens. I have tried to find in the windows explorer where I go for
the system restore but I cannot figure it out. Please help if you have
any idea and possible it will help chericreekfarms out as well.

Thanks!

It sounds like what you mean is that Your Taskbar is missing,
which probably means that the desktop shell isnt loading.
here's a list of solutions givin to others:
Try #195 right hand column at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Galen replied to another post with this:
Press CTRL + ALT + DEL > File > New Task > type "explorer.exe" and hit
enter...
Does that bring up your desktop?
If so then reboot right from there - and that's often the trick. If
not then see here:

You have Windows Explorer opening? How odd... Anyhow...

Paste this into the Address bar of of Windows Explorer:
"%SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe" (no quotes of course) or just
restart in safe mode and it will automatically prompt you to do a restore.

Safe Mode :
