Lost Internet Connection (For Frank Saunders)

Hi Frank:

I read one of your previous replies and was trying to follow your
instructions, but cannot reset Internet Protocol because it's asking for a
password....which I never have used.

I have lost my internet connection and have not been able to restore it
back. Ran the LSP-Fix - a free program to repair damaged Winsock 2 stacks
(all Windows versions) from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm. Also ran the
WinXP: and WinSockxpFix from
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html.

Tried to Reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357
(WinXP SP2: Go to Start > Run and type CMD In the command window type
"netsh winsock reset")

However, cannot log on from safe mode command prompt therefore could not run
any of the items.

When going to the safemode command prompt get: C:\Documents and
settings\(name)
Press enter and get bad command. I do not use a password to log on so am
stuck. Tried using DOS command to change directly to C:\ and did not work.

Also tried to setup a new isp connection. Accepted all data to the end and
after finish it came back and said could not setup due to lack of disk space
or ?

Thanks

Did you try normal Safe Mode (not Command prompt)? LSPFix and Winsockxpfix
should run in regular Safe Mode.

Hi Frank:

I ran both the LSP-Fix and WinsockXPFix with no problem. However, I could
not run the Reset to Internet Protocol
Settings because it was asking for a Password that I have never established.
So do you have any recommendations on resolving this so I can reset these
settings?

Thanks

No, I don't.
