lost icons after 10 seconds?

Hi,
When I start my computer (XP Home) everything loads fine and after about 10
seconds all my icons inclusing the start bar etc goes from the screen. I can
Ctrl, Alt, Delete and run explorer.exe and everything comes back and stays
until the next time I restart. Any suggestions why this might be happening
and what can I do to sort it out please? Is it a virus that is causing this
issue?

Just seen this! It a combination of spywares, trojans and viruses. Spent
the morning "cleaning" up the boss' home PC.

Sounds just like my life. Wake up. Shower, shave, eat, etc. Go outside,
clean the birdcrap off my car window. Go to a house, clean the crap off
a home pc so they can get online again and do their ebay/aol/chat
whatever.
