Lost Generals and Programs tab from IE6 SP1

Fired up puter & IE and noticed someone put their web
page as default home page. I normally keep a blank home
page as default. Then I went to TOOLS and INTERNET
OPTIONS and noticed two tabs missing, Generals and
Programs. Now I cannot change my default home page or
delete temporary internet files. Re-downloaded and re-
installed ie6 sp1 no avail. Set DWORD in registry for IE6
to zero from one, re-installed and get error, "The
software you are installing has not passed windows logo
testing to verify its compatability with windows xp." Any
helper knowing what's going on with IE tabs suddenly
disappearing?

Reset the Internet Explorer tabs and remove all the browser restrictions.
Download the script from:

Remove IE Restrictions & Restore Missing tabs
http://www.angelfire.com/dragon/sramesh2k/reg/IE_reset_restrictions.reg

Also, refer Fix 268 from Kelly's site:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Restore All tabs in IE and Removes the ** Internet Options ** Restrictions
as well

** The cause may be due to a spyware. Download Ad-Aware from
www.lavasoftusa.com, scan the system and eliminate the malware products.
Re-apply the above fix if necessary.

I had the same problem and ran the
ie_resetrestrictions.reg as suggested below. It seems to
have worked ... but how can one be sure that the somebody
like Ramesh isn't actually tricking us into installing a
virus that will be harmful? (nothing personal Ramesh)

True. Just downloading random registry files is a bad practice, someone
could potentially damage your system without you even knowing. (No offence
to Ramesh who I'm sure had the best intentions).

Just downloading .reg file and running is a bad practice definitely.

..reg file are of Text format. If you are unsure what the .reg script does,
right-click the file and choose "EDIT". It will show what registry keys are
modified. Therefore, the user has a chance to see what keys are affected

This is the reason I stopped creating .exe files. I stick to .reg for simple
registry operations.
