I reloaded xp professional to my pc a couple of weeks ago and I thought I'd
lost all my files but my hard drive still shows that there is 40GB being used
so they are somewhere still but I can't find them anywhere at all .
Any ideas how to find them?

Hi

Which particular files are you looking for? Programs files or data files?

Are you using a different user name than last time.
Your documents are stored using the format "C:\Documents and
Settings\username\My Documents" or default user instead of username.
So use windows explorer to go to that location and look for your old user
name. When you say you "reloaded" did you format during the installation or
is it controlled using a supplied backup disk. If you do find your old user
name and can't get to view them have a look at "take ownership" in windows
help and support.

hope that helps
Neil
