I have the same problem. The date was the only thing that use to show on
my
taskbar. But, since Windows SP3 update, I now have the time and day of
the
week, e.g., Monday, displayed on two separate lines. If I enlarge the
taskbar, the date is shown as well, but it requires a really large
taskbar.

What is worse, I have tried to customize my taskbar the way it was before
and discovered that my options "always show, always hide and hide when
inactive" cannot be changed from their present settings. So, if an icon
is
set to always hide, I cannot change the setting to always show, as was the
case before the SP3 update.

No third party programs and apparently, no viruses. Hope someone can
assist.

Hi,
got the same problem. Advice below does not help. In addition to the
clock, I also have the name of the day in the taskbar - can't get rid of
it. I don't need it, but I NEED the date!
I have no third party software for this task, just basic XP Pro.

Bob,

Right-click the Taskbar and uncheck Lock the Taskbar option. Now,
resize
the Taskbar using the top handle (when you see the double-headed arrow
mark) and increase the Taskbar height (two lines). The date and time
would be displayed. Then, lock the taskbar.

I've lost the "Current Date" from the taskbar after running Windows
Live
Safety Center program. The program found and removed 2 viruses and
cleaned up
the "Registry" with no problems. All programs seen to work ok however I
can't
find a way to turn on the "date display" on the right end of the
taskbar.
The
time displays correctly. I'm running XP Media Center 2002 w/sp2 Tks.
Bob

Perhaps if you change the "Long Date" to show only the date, that might
change the way it's displayed on the time too. Change the display in
Control Panel, Regional and Language Options, Regional Options, or
Customize area.

Good call, this also happened to me after I changed the screen size and font
size. Made the font too big to fit in the task bar.
