You might want to check your modem manu site for updated driver, also check
mobo site for updated drivers,
specifically usb related.
I've seen many prob.reports re usb adsl modems, does your modem also have an
ethernet connection?

.
i have checked the modems website & dloaded their
driver, thinking it might be better than the one that came
with the modem but the same thing happens. also looked for
any bios updates for my mobo but found nothing. i was
told/advised by my bband provider(helpline)that i should
reformat/reinstall etc as win2000 registry cant
cope.(personally i dont think thats right)anyway will keep
trying.thanks

The advice to reformat/reinstall is incorrect, unless perhaps your
installation is an upgrade from an earlier o/s.
Sounds like the info given by someone who hasnt an answer!
I would keep pestering your bband supplier, could be as simple as a faulty
modem, though as I said there have been reports of problems with adsl usb
modems.
Also dont just check mobo bios updates, but mobo chipset updates, usually in
drivers section.

Just a thought, if you have several usb ports, try another - should'nt make
a difference...but! -
