Login screen unread message error

Hi,
I am getting an unread message notification on the logon
screen for a user that has no unread messages. I found a
tip about editing the registry so that this message can no
longer be updated, but this would seem to "lock in" the
error". How do I simply "reset" this feature to clear it?

TweakUI for XP and go to the Repair section.

You can also disable the Unread mail notification from the Logon section.
