Login Problems

When i turn my computer on and it gets to the loading screen just before the welcome user choice screen it freezes and acts like there are no user accounts available. but i managed to get into my computer and can see that there still are my documents and all but i cant lgin as a user. Could somebody please help me.
your help would be appreciated.
