I'm running XP pro as a single user. Suddenly when I click
Tools/Internet options I get a "restricted" message saying
I need to contact the administrator. Whoa, that should be
me and I don't have a clue how I got locked out.
Suggestions, Please. You could start by telling me where I
should post this request. I can't decide if it's an XP or
IE problem. Thanks

Have you ever connected your machine to a DOMAIN
Do you have any other users set up on the machine locally? Preferably another administrator? If so log on as them and then right mouse click on My COmputer go to properties, advanced, user profiles and delete your username. Howeverf ensure that you copy all your important data first from C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME to another location

Then create yourself a new account try logging in as that.

When you log in you will get a new profile. And it is stored in C:\Documents and Settings\ YOUR NEW USERNAME.

You can then begin the process of going through the contents of your old profile and copying the relevant data accross to the new profile ie My Documents, Favourites. Do not replace everything in teh old profile folder as it will copy accross the security settings that caused this problem in the forst place

Hope this help

Simon
