security settings prevent acces to IE tools

Harry Hayes

Hi
Whilst tweaking my Windows XP pro/IE6 security settings, I have managed to
lock myself out of the tools > internet options> settings dialogue! in IE
When I try to access it I get a windows warning " Operation cancelled due to
restrictions on this computer" and of course........... I cannot remember
how to put things right?? I have an Administrator account.
I would be grateful for any relevant! suggestions.

For the information of anyone with the same problem, I received the
following reply from another NG and which sorted out the problem instantly.

Try looking in the registry under:

hkcu\software\policies\microsoft\internet explorer\restrictions
Look for the value: NoBrowserOptions
You can delete that item and the restriction should be lifted.

Hope this helps you out.

Harry,

Thanks for following up on this. I need to add one more option to the
utility :) Fred has featured my site before, I believe, but sure, go ahead
and recommend it :)
