loading personal profile problem

Hi,

My WinXP does not load personal profile properly. It only shows the wall
paper and that's it. I check the Task Manager. There are not many processes
running.

How can I recover from this problem?

Thanks

Log into the Administrator account and create a new user, then log into
that. If you have XP Home, you log into Administrator from Safe Mode.

If the new user works properly, migrate your files to the new user profile,
as the old one is likely corrupt. .

Thanks for your reply.
The old corrupted one is the only administrator account. Is there other way
to solve the problem?

Sounds like you could be confusing the "Administrator" account with "an
account that has administrator privileges". There is only one of the former;
there can be many of the latter. Have you been logging in as
"Administrator"?

Logon to administrator in system then perform system restore to the
nearest good working this should resolve your problem.

So this *was* XP Pro, and you were using the built-in Administrator account
for a personal user account, and now it's corrupt?

If so, this is a demonstration of why you should not use the Administrator
account for anything but essential system maintenance.

I would personally back up the system, wipe the drive, and start over,
creating user accounts.

Sorry there isn't better news.
