fail to load personal profile

Hi,

My WinXP does not load personal profile properly. It only shows the wall
paper and that's it. I check the Task Manager. There are not many processes
running.

I have tried to logon from the safe mode and the Administrator account. The
same happens.
If I am able to logon the Administrator accout, I will be able to create a
new user.

How can I recover from this problem?

Thanks

It's a bit unclear, does the Administrator account fail to load as well?
If so, you should consider the state of your backups. You may need to fix
extensive damage by a clean reinstall, so you'll want to be sure that your
data is safely copied elsewhere.

Press F8 at start, and choose Last Known Good. Is that any different at
all?

try this.

Start -> run -> type msconfig then press enter

or

go to task manager (alt+ctrl+del) -> click on file menu then select run new
task then type msconfig press enter.

a window will popup in that windows under statup type select normal statup
then click ok then restart.
