List of markup in track changes

H

Hi

When printing a word doc (Word 2003) it is possible to print a "List of
Markups" view. What I need is the ability to save a view like this i.e. a
list/inventory of all comments/changes including the page, reviewer name and
page to which a comment relates. Essentially I need to copy this view to an
excel sheet for referece as part of a quality review procedure.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks
Ross

Maybe you can use the macros you can download via the links below:

1. A macro that extracts all comments from the active document to a new
document. You can read more and download the macro from here:
http://www.thedoctools.com/index.php?show=mt_comments_extract

2. A macro that extracts all tracked changes from the active document to a
new document. You can read more and download the macro from here:

Sorry one more question, rather than save the macro to each individual
document how can I make it available to use when ever I need.

Thanks

You can either save the macros in your Normal.dot or you can create a new
template, store the macros in that template and place the new template in
your Word Startup folder. In both cases, the macros will be available to all
the documents you work with.

For more details, see:

Thanks again. So that others can use this macro will I need to save to each
individuals pc?

and sorry another "one more thing", is it possible to produce the report in
excel or to have a macro that automatically copies and pastes to excel.

Thanks again!!

Use the Startup folder solution. Please refer to the article "Distributing
macros to other users" (second article link in my previous post). As stated
in the article, the Startup folder can be set up to be on a shared drive. In
that case, you only need one copy of your template in that folder. If the
Startup folder is placed on each user's individual PC, you must distribute
the template to all the users (the article also tells how this could be done
automatically).

About automatically copying to Excel: Yes, that is possible. You may be able
to adjust the macros to do that by searching the forums for ideas on how it
could be done.
