Stop printing markup list at end of track changes document

We can't get this list to stop printing at the end of the document including
track changes. We need to print the comments in balloons, but not in this
markup list. How can we turn it off?

Any assistance will be deeply appreciated.

A couple things to check...

In Tools - Options - Track Changes, make sure that Use Balloons is not set
to Never. Make sure the other options are set as desired too.

Choose File - Print. Under Print What:, choose Document with Markup rather
than List of Markup (but I assume you're already doing that).

BTW, what version of Word are you using?

I am using Word 2002, we printed with the balloons, and Document with Markup,
and the list still comes out at the end of the document. We cannot find a
code for it, or anywhere to turn it off. I was hoping there might be a style
involving the creation of this list, possible endnote creation, but none of
my guesses have been in the document.

Thank you for your response!

Does this happen with all documents, or just that one? There is an option to
print just the list, but it sounds like Word is doing both the document
*and* the list. This makes me wonder if somehow the settings are convoluted.
One way to test that is to see if the problem occurs in Safe Mode.

Try starting Word in Safe Mode. Hold the Ctrl key down when you start Word,
and keep it down until Word appears on the task bar. Say Yes to starting in
Safe Mode.

Does the problem still occur?

Thanks, Herb, but the Safety Mode didn't change a thing. I would put this
document in another number on our system (IManage), but they don't want the
number of the document to change. We even used a cleanup from the DocX
toolbar that we use on other documents with problems like this, and the
markup list came right back with it. We can't find anything in the text or
style list to indicate where this might be coming from. I really appreciate
your suggestions though.

Thanks!

Hi, Doug,

If you'd care to email the document to me, I can take a whack at it. There's
no substitute for getting my grubby little hands on a problem document. It
might be something that leaps out at me. In any event, assuming it's not
proprietary, you can send it to me at problem(at)thetysons.org, replacing
(at) with @. (note: if I include the actual email address, some automatic
harvester will add it to their spam list)
