No, the truth, something you obviously have problems accepting.

You should be.

A lie.

Ubuntu is a real OS.

Why would anyone want Window ME NT? It's a flop and no one in their
right mind wants it.

Resorting to non-existent os's now huh?
Just another lie!
Give it up already.
Haven't you made a big enough fool out of yourself today?
There is always tomorrow.

The article incorrectly assumes that the power of word of mouth is not a
strong marketing power. So do you and all the other fanboys. I must admit,
though, Linux will be successful in Europe before the BestBuy Americans
catch on.

Sure.
The people looking for free stuff, like starving artist and people trying to
"discover" themselves...they are going for Linux in a big way.
But the "BestBuy" americans...I assume you mean people with jobs and
money...they use Windows.
I'm pretty sure Microsoft, like most business', considers people with money
as their preferred customers.
Linux, with its slogan..."It's Free, Damnit!" ...is obviously after a
different clientele.
Or, they will hook you for free NOW, then will drop the hammer later with
fees.

Users could stay with XP too, and by doing so will not face having to
learn a completely new OS, or lose use of any Windows programs. A better
solution, would you not agree.. :-)

Temporarily? Possibly.
Long term? Bad once MS drops XP support.

For those who don't want Vista and whatever may follow, they are better
off choosing and learning an alternative now while there is time instead
of waiting with XP until the last moment.

Just my opinion...

Maybe the people I know are smarter than the ones you know. I have
installed Ubuntu on dozens of computers for people who used to be
Windows users and all of them are very happy with it. You say you've
installed Ubuntu but have you installed the latest, Feisty Fawn? I can
hardly wait to see the improvements with Gutsy next month.

You'll like it, I've been running Gutsy all month now. It's quite nice. =)

I have yet to meet a client who used any program that requires Windows
except for games and, for that reason -- and that reason only -- I install
a dual boot with XP so they can keep on gaming. I have the same set-up
myself (and Devil May Cry 3 rocks!).

Proly a outright lie.

You say you've

Yeah, we're all holding out breath!

Wow! Great for surfing the net, email and ...nothing else. Get a real
os.

Hmmm nothing else?

Odd, last thing I checked I was using it to develop software priced in
the 4-digit range...but I must somehow be imagining this. Oh and, it
makes a quite nice multimedia setup as well as my TV and surround sound
system would agree with me.

Oh and, Unlike frigging windows media player, IT CAN HANDLE MY JAPANESE
MUSIC!!! I just played around with my new Portable MP3 player today both
under Ubuntu and windows.

Now Ubuntu can talk to the device via MTP using Rhythmbox. I can sync my
mp3 files no problem. Everything pretty much works reasonably well and my
Japanese audio is absolutely no problem.

Windows media player (Version 11) however fails miserably because while
it can talk to the device and sync mp3 files as well, it can't correctly
read my Japanese CDs which I have a lot of. For most track listings,
it'll just give me [untranslated] as it apparently can't deal with kana/
kanji track names or artist names or anything non-english.

So basically, another thing where windows is useless for me.
Get Vista!

No thanks, I have work to do.

Who knows, by then MS might come out with Vienna, what Vista, aka Win ME
NT, was supposed to be and drop all the DRM crap like the music industry
is doing.

One of the reasons I am using and continuing to learn about Linux. I may
even get me a Mac notebook and learn that too. No one knows which the
way the technical winds will blow ten years from now.

Well, The Shadow do but he ain't telling ;-)

Like Google? If you use Google, you're using Linux. Are you a starving
artist, trying to discover yourself?
But the "BestBuy" americans...I assume you mean people with jobs and

No I mean the computer clueless type that tools up to the Mall and takes
back a computer like an HP, loaded with crap, no OS CD and spends all
day on Windows Live Messenger and downloading crap with eMule.

Air is free now. You're hooked now. Without it, you would have a
terrible hangover. So far, "they" haven't charged anyone for the air
they breath.

I use google not Linux.
Google uses Linux.
I eat at a restarant that uses Calphalon...But I dont use Calphalon.
Linux so desperate it has to say your using it indirectly.

Sure you do. What about WPA, WGA, Tamper State. How many hardware

Seeing how I just read an article in a German Magazine how Microsoft is
releasing technology to watermark music for further control that DRM
doesn't allow such as tracking who originally bought the music...I
somehow have a difficult time believing that.

I particularly love the part in the article where they state that the
watermark can't be heard but that the watermark will survive if the audio
is recorded by a microphone.

As far as I am concerned, if my home microphone can hear the watermark,
so can most likely I.

Link to the article, in German though.

Personally I'd rather use Vista before I'd ever even go near a Mac. I
don't see Mac as an alternative. I see Mac as something even worse than
Windows.

Windows is software lock-in which is bad enough.

Mac on the other hand is both Software and Hardware lock-in. So really,
what am I gaining by going to a Mac? Now I'm dependent on a single vendor
not only for my software but also for my hardware and loose the ability
to build my own systems with the hardware that *I* want and *I* need
without excessive markup.

All I have to say to Mac is: No thanks.

I would only get a Mac out of curiosity, not necessity. My first
computer was the first Mac and I supposed nostalgia might be a factor as
well. For my production machine, it's Ubuntu all the way now.

I couldn't care less about the name of an OS when I choose if I want to
use it.

No, you need to work on understanding metaphors.
You need to work on telling and accepting the truth.
Start with the fact that you're a linux troll.
Then work on dealing with the fact that linux is not, nor will it ever
be, the main desktop os of choice.
Then consider that your presence here is unwanted and unneeded.

Frank said:

When will you stop not telling the truth, Frank? Just *saying* someone
lies is not enough. You have to *prove* it and lies, insults, clichés
and bluster doesn't qualify as proving it.
Start with the fact that you're a linux troll.

Let's not. Stereotypes never did anything for me as I choose not to be
so narrow minded.
Then work on dealing with the fact that linux is not, nor will it ever
be, the main desktop os of choice.

Not for you, that's for sure until, of course, it's the "latest thing"
and then you'll jump on it in a New York second and tell everyone you've
been using it since it came out.
Then consider that your presence here is unwanted and unneeded.
Frank

I'm sure it's more welcomed than your lies, insults, clichés and bluster is.
