Laserjet 6L paper jam (not the usual)

This is not the usual multifeed problem. I suddenly found that the paper
is concertina-ing at the exit from the machine, after it has been through
the fuser unit etc. I think the cause is a small scrap of paper that got
torn off in a jam yesterday.

I tried to open this part of the printer by undoing two screws that
seemed to hold the exit rollers, but although this did loosen it a bit
it did not come right out. When the component was slightly loose I
thought I could feed a bit of paper but I could not get it out.

Is there any way to remove this part of the exit mechanim without
dismantling the whole machine?

You need to:

1. remove the remove the toner cart.
2. remove the back cover (3 screws and slide up the paper guide before
removing)
3. remove the front door/cover. "Along the door hinge, there is a flex
point. Firmly press the left tab inward to release it. The right tab will
fall out easily"
4. remove the little side panel where the RAM upgrades go.
5. remove the two screws on the top of the printer, and lift off the main
body of the printer.
6.lift out the paper feed holder. This is most likely the problem. There
may not be any paper stuck there. The plastic guides may have folded over
and require straightening/re-fitting into place.

Depending on if it's paper or an easily accessible part of the plastic
flaps on the paper guide, you may be able to reach in with a long
screwdriver from top or front (with toner cart removed) and jiggle it into
place/get the paper out.
