concertina jam in LJ4

Alan

I occasionally get a concertina jam in the output from my LJ4.

Part numbers below refer to <http://tinyurl.com/y8zgwt> this diagram.

It looks like the leading edge of the sheet bumps down into the hard
plastic rollers (#20) just before it comes out to the output tray,
then the paper stops moving and the following sheet is jammed. If I
grab the sheet as it appears and pull it through, usually after 5
sheets they seem to be coming out smoothly and it seems to be okay
from then on.

Is there an adjustment to these rollers that could fix this? Or
perhaps it's the soft roller (#16) at the top not grabbing the paper
strongly enough -- would sandpapering it help or make it worse?

Or is it something else entirely?

It's the roller at the top. And probably the roller halfway down the
back as well. Classic problem with these.

Sandpaper, or one of those 'rubber roller restorer' treatments. New set
of rollers is less than ten pounds (UK), AFAIR. If you want help fitting
them, I have instructions I wrote myself (more detailed than the
manual).

Yes, thanks, that would be great.

If necessary, refer to the diagram I linked at The Printer Works.
There are so many rollers and similar parts it's not easy to be sure
we're talking about the same parts.

I'm in Hong Kong, and parts are available here, but not so cheap, so
reconditioning would be my first option.

The ones I'm talking about are 15 and 16 - neither are hard plastic, but
rubber.

If you want the instructions, I need a real email address, so you'll
have to email that to me.
