Laptop Wirless NIC Driver for Presario

George

I have a new Compaq Presario that came with XP Home. I
tried to upgrade the OS to XP Pro. The update went into a
loop and would not finish. I decided to do a new install
of XP Pro and now it does not recognize my wireless nic
card. It does not show in the network adapters list. HP
Compaq's answer is they don't support XP Pro and refuse to
help me. I am of the impression that the NIC is a Linksys,
but I struck out get a driver from thre site as well. I
can't believe that I am the only person trying to run
Windows XP Pro on a new Presario. Any suggestions?

Hello
I am assuming that your NIC was built in. Have you tried to go to Compaq's
website and find out the product information for your model, I am not sure
if Compaq offers this option HP does and you can find out the make and model
of all the hardware inside then go to the website of the manufacturer and
download the driver.
