driver update for Compaq Presario monitor

This is my first time in a newsgroup so here goes (please
bear with me if I mess up)--About three years ago I
bought the Compaq Presario 5900Z desktop. It came with
Windows 98 installed. I recently (about a year ago)
updated to Windows XP. Everything was fine for a while
until I upgraded to 256K RAM and 40 gig hard drive. After
reinstalling the XP I can no longer adjust the pixel
settings on the monitor. I don't know if an updated
driver is available or even if this would help. By the
way Compaq Support (actually HP) told me that I would
have to uninstall XP and go back to windows 98 for the
monitor to work properly. Any ideas or suggestions??

it seems that your moniteor doesn't have the updated
drivers to interface with the operating system. The
vendor has no intention of writting these drivers and
your only 2 options are to revert back to 98 or get a new
monitor.
Good luck,
Joe
