laptop shuts down

The other day I applied the latest Windows Updates to my
daughter's Gateway laptop. Now, when idle, the laptop
completely powers down.

Does anyone know of any issues with the latest Windows
Updates that could cause this?

have you checked the settings "Start->Settings->Control Panel->Power"?
btw.: What patch caused the problem and what OS is your daughter using?
