I think there is more left out of your message than intended.
You mention a built-in microphone in the subject..
Then you mention playing audio from others (nothing to do with the
microphone) and then you mention playing audio (I guess sound files of your
own) - and them not being able to hear you.
Is what you are saying:
I use Skype/Yahoo Chat/other means to communicate with people via voice on
my laptop. It seems that when I am doing this - if I play any other audio
while in the chat, my voice quits transmitting while I am listening to the
audio - even if it is just them talking.
If so - that has to do with duplexing. Think of push-button walkie-talkies
for an example of simplex. Think of your telephone for an example of
duplex. It could be that you need a newer sound drive or it could be that
your sound card is not capable (albeit that would be unusual) of
playing/recording at the same time.
